Action plan concepts and goals
The Hunger-Free Minnesota action plan:
- Is meant to engage hunger-relief efforts at the local, regional and statewide level. It is one of the only statewide efforts in the country.
- Concentrates its efforts in three significant food-delivery arenas: the emergency food delivery system (food banks, food shelves, food pantries, meal programs); the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP); and federally funded child nutrition programs such as WIC, the School Breakfast Program, and the After-school Snack Program.
- Seeks to engage participation across a broad spectrum of all communities, including corporations, not-for-profit and government entities, and individuals.
- Selects high-impact initiatives and creates a sense of urgency.
- Makes sure progress can be sustained after fundraising ceases.
