Aug. 15 — Cauliflower bigger than your brain! Today’s harvest of 124 pounds yielded cauliflower with 9-10-inch, snowy-white heads.
Do you know how to keep them white? Clothespins. Take 2 – 4 of the large, outside leaves, pull them up over the top of the cauliflower floret and hold them together with a clothespin. The leaves keep the top of the cauliflower from getting sunburned and turning yellow. everybody seems to like their cauliflower…bright white…so… clothespins are a perfect helper. in our garden when the clothespins popped off…it means the cauliflowers are big enough to harvest. It’s my grandma's secret.
da garden broke the 1000lb barrier today.!! we are picking at least one hundred pounds a day….3 times per/wk.. and that should outta last through mid-sept.
Everything looks great – the cauliflower, peppers, tomatoes, beets, okra, squash, carrots…are doing well. The deer even left us a few green beans this week. That’s probably a record? it was a good day…in da garden.
